Silver Eagle Outfitters Introduces Affordable Line of
Workforce Cooling Apparel to Fight Heat Stress

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama-March 24, 2004- Determined to cut the risk of heat related injuries for industrial and outdoor workers, Silver Eagle Outfitters, pioneers of recreational evaporative cooling apparel and products made of their specially designed cooling fabric, has combined evaporative cooling technology with efficient design to produce vests and headwear geared specifically for the industrial workforce.

Silver Eagle Outfitters created the workplace line of cooling apparel for workers who are exposed to heat and the associated risks of heat- and sun-related illnesses through their jobs. "The introduction of our workforce cooling apparel not only cuts the risk of heat related illnesses and injuries, but also cuts the cost of providing protection against the hazards and discomforts of working in hot environments,” said Nancy Keen, Cofounder of Silver Eagle Outfitters. This is the first time high-performance cooling apparel can be bought at a budget price. Silver Eagle's workforce cooling vests start as low as $40 and top out at $52 for the Class 2, Level 2 high visibility vest with reflective tape. “With so many people out there braving heat to perform their jobs, it is only logical that we make apparel to meets their workforce standards," said Keen.

Finding a reasonable way to combat heat stress, which causes muscle cramps, fatigue, irritability, poor judgment, and increased numbers of accidents has been a frustrating quest for employers and employees alike. Thus far, most personal cooling gear has required refrigeration and ice packs, pumps, tubes, chemicals, or other appliances. Not only is such gear expensive to buy, it is also heavy and uncomfortable to wear, adding to a worker's burden rather than helping to reduce it.

Rather than using cooling gels or ice packs, Silver Eagle garments are created of Silver Eagle’s specially constructed, three-layer evaporative cooling composite. Activated in minutes by tap water, the products use evaporative technology to cool the wearer for two to eight hours, depending on the climate and environmental conditions. A water-resistant inner liner pulls heat away from the body and wicks moisture away from the skin, keeping the wearer cool and dry. Fully activated, Silver Eagle apparel remains ultra light and breathable, allowing the wearer full range of motion and consistent comfort.

Silver Eagle’s vests fit comfortably over or under work clothes and can be worn directly against the skin. Worn dry, the garments provide an effective barrier to the cold and wind. All Silver Eagle products are machine washable, line-or machine dry.

The Silver Eagle Utility Cooling Vests are available in pullover and zip-front styles featuring a quick-dry outer shell is made of pure finish, two-ply Supplex®. Specially engineered by DuPont, Supplex resists abrasions, punctures, and tears. For additional protection, the Supplex fabric carries an ultraviolet protective factor rating of UPF 25+ to provide excellent UV protection from the sun’s damaging rays. Lightweight and odor-resistant, Supplex provides the strength, durability, and performance demanded in the workplace.

The pullover style utility cooling vest offers elastic, self-gripping Velcro® fasteners that wrap the one-size-fits all vest to a perfect fit. The pullover style vest is available with a blue or khaki Supplex outer shell, or with an ANSI certified high-visibility, lime-green, polyester outer shell for only $40.

Silver Eagle's zip-front style cooling vests are simple to use and easy to wear with an enclosed zipper front and adjustable, two-inch elastic, self-gripping Velcro fasteners across the back of the vest. The zip-front vest is available in sizes small through 2XL with khaki Supplex outer shell, or with an ANSI certified high-visibility, lime-green, polyester outer shell for only $45. Sizes 3XL through 5XL are available for $60.00.

The High Visibility Cooling Vest is designed to meet the requirements of the Class 2, Level 2 ANSI High Visibility Standard. This zip-front vest is made with an outer shell of ANSI/ISEA 107-1999 certified high-visibility fluorescent yellow-green, 2-ply polyester, quilted for maximum protection and durability. The outer shell provides 360-degree visibility in the daytime and is available with or without reflective tape that meets ANSI 107-1999 standards for nighttime reflectivity. The Class 2, Level 2 high-visibility vest with reflective tape is available for $52 in sizes medium through 2XL ($45 without reflective tape). This vest is also available in sizes 3XL through 5XL for $67.

Topping off the workforce line are cooling caps and do-rags. Silver Eagle headwear is available in multiple colors from $15. Just add H2O and go. It takes just a few minutes for hours of cooling. All products can be purchased direct from www.silvereagleoutfitters.com or by calling 888-672-6963.
